IBM Millennium City is an architectural landmark since 2003, in the vastly growing Sector-V of Salt Lake City, Kolkata. The landscape design of the Millennium City, being an extension to the architectural expression, imparts a grand elevated deck plaza-podium with ample space for maneuvering of cars, is an impressive foreground to the daunting glass towers. Wide driveways, the grandeur of the entry plaza, unique use of the otherwise dead ramp wall for creating a water feature wall, floating terrace gardens, contemporary landscape pavilions and food courts with its interesting mix of planters, small decks and planted green patches make the entire experience uniquely contemporary and urban. The focal point of the plaza is the obtuse solar pattern in paving and the steel prism sculptures reflecting the resplendence of the place.

Furthermore, the material selection had a restricted palette having bright use of metal finishes. Subtle varieties of polished sandblasted Kota, flamed and polished grey granite and occasional splash of ochre in Jaisalmer stone have also been incorporated. Wide ranges of colors and thick foliage have been interestingly introduced to the planting theme, thus softening the stark feel of the required extensive hardscape works.
